International Space Station

The Sun … the Moon … the planets… the stars… These natural phenomena have nurtured, guided and inspired life on Earth throughout the ages. Yet it wasn't until the beginning of the 20th century, when aerial technology gave birth to the airplane that humans acquired the technical capability to literally reach for the stars.             Today, airplanes take us to altitudes of 30,000 feet, allowing us to fly above the clouds at nearly 600 miles per hour. Half way through the 20th century, we invented the technology to go even farther and the satellite era had begun. The first artificial satellites were launched to low Earth orbit, an area that extends to about 1,200 miles above Earth. The satellite era was destined to show the world that the sky could provide much more than intercontinental transportation and NASA was created.Today in the 21st century, over a thousand operating satellite's orbit planet Earth. They serve us daily with weather pr...

How does a blockchain technology work

Blockchains are incredibly popular nowadays. But what is a blockchain? How do they work, what problems do they solve and how can they be used? Like the name indicates, a blockchain is a chain of blocks that contains information. This technique was originally described in 1991 by a group of researchers and was originally intended to timestamp digital documents so that it’s not possible to backdate them or to tamper with them. Almost like a notary.             However it went by mostly unused until it was adapted by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009 to create the digital cryptocurrency Bitcoin. A blockchain is a distributed ledger thatis completely open to anyone. They have an interesting property: once somedata has been recorded inside a blockchain, it becomes very difficult to change it. So how does that work? Well, let’s take a closer look at a block. Each block contains some data, the hash ofthe block and the hash of the previous block. The data t...

What are the reasons for earthquake

This should look familiar. It is our home. It is the planet Earth or it is a model of the planet Earth. And it shows us what we see. We see continents we see oceans it shows us that the Earth spins. But there is one thing that this model cannot show us. It cannot show us what is on the inside of the earth. I press on this and it is hollow. But through science we have discovered that the earth is not hollow. Through science we have discovered what is inside the earth.             So what is inside the earth. Well when I look at my model. I see continents and ocean. But what you cannot see is underneath the continents and ocean is a crust. A crust that covers the whole earth. And underneath the crust is a warmer layer called the mantle. And then underneath the mantle is this hot inner core right at the center. So let us take a closer look inside the earth. Underneath all the continents and the ocean there is the crust and it is important to rem...

How Optical Fiber Works

Have you ever thought about how you get emails or the other information from any corner of the planet within a blink of an eye? This has been made possible by a network of cables which are laid under the ground and below the ocean. The cables which carry most of the world's data are glass fiber cables. they're also utilized in medical equipment.        Let's find out how glass fiber cables work and the way they need revolutionized the world around us. the glass fiber cable is made from thousands of fiber strands. And one fiber strand as thin as a person's hair. Optical fibers carry information in the shape of sunshine. Let's first learn some fundamental behaviors of sunshine to know the workings of optical fibers. The speed of sunshine changes when it passes through a medium. And this alteration in speed is expressed by the index of refraction. This variation and therefore the speed of the sunshine results in another interesting phenomenon. Refraction, t...

Why Astronauts Wear Orange and White Spacesuits

Let’s chat about Space Fashion, shall we? The bright orange color astronauts wear To go out for launch is named International Orange, and it’s an equivalent shade because the paint that coats Tokyo Tower in Japan, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.         However, once astronauts are in space, they swap orange for snow-white evening wear. (It’s always evening in space.)So what gives with the different colors? Well, there are actually two main types of spacesuits. The first one is the Advanced Crew Escape Suit, aka the "orange suit," aka the "pumpkin suit." Trick or treat! Astronauts wear this full-pressure suit during"lift-off". These spacesuits are crucial for those who are heading for super high altitudes. There, the pressure is so low that people can't survive without a special protective suit.. Anyway, the orange suit is equipped with different stuff that can help an astronaut to survive if something goes wrong during the lau...

Depression and Video Games

Our minds are what make us who we are and as humans, we’re the only known beings in existence that have an understanding and control of both the mental and physical we've come to an age where almost any physical ailment is curable.      Each day medical advancements are made to eradicate disease and bring forward innovation to help the disabled to become abled. However one thing that is still a mystery to us, is our minds. Our mental health is something we need to take seriously. All forms of media have tried to express mental health in some capacity Books, Films and Television, Books, Film and Television, both fiction and nonfiction have been used as tools to deliver messages and stories. And through it we can relate and/or empathise with those who do suffer from depression, anxiety and a slew of mental health problems. In this episode of the Sidcourse, we’re going to look at depression and mental health to see how games and gaming can or could help.  ...

Process before Big Bang

We even have a reasonably good idea of what may need happened before the Big Bang. That is as long as you define 'The Big Bang' as the universe's early hot dense expanding state that's well described by Einstein's equations. That picture of the Big Bang is extremely solid, right down to a few trillionth of a second after the supposed beginning of your time . We can make good guesses down to about 10^(-30) of a second, but did anything happen before that? Well, maybe everything. The universe almost certainly did not explode from a singular point.              Now, we covered that misconception recently. These days, the best accepted description of the time before the Big Bang is given by inflation theory. The idea is that the energy trapped in the so-called "Inflation field" caused exponential expansion of space. This was the 'bang' in the Big Bang. In previous episodes, we looked at why cosmologists think we need inflation and what coul...

How does a Tank work?

Let's look at how a tank works. We're gonna focus specifically, on the American M1A2 Abrams Tank. We'll look at the caterpillar tracks, the turret, where the crew sits, and the engine in the back that powers it all. The developers were actually willing to send me 3D models, to help me make this animation which was awesome.          If you haven't heard about War Thunder, it's a massive online military game, with over 20 million active players. It's historically accurate too, which means you can learns lot while playing. War Thunder is free to play, and it's available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Try War Thunder today. You'll get a free premium aircraft, tank or ship, and a three day account upgrade as a bonus. The M1 Abrams Tank was introduced in the year 1980. The tank was named in honor of United States Army General Creighton W. Abrams Jr, who was a commander in the Vietnam War. The idea with the M1 Abrams Tank, was to keep it low to the ground...

Hawking Radiation

In the initial days of space research, it was believed that black holes were space objects into which things could enter, but never leave. However, this all changed in 1974, when Stephen Hawking proposed a groundbreaking theory regarding a special kind of radiation, which later became known as Hawking radiation. Stephen Hawking was an English theoretical physicist and cosmologist who is most famously known for his theoretical prediction of Hawking Radiation. That being said, what exactly is Hawking radiation?              In order to understand this phenomenon, it's imperative to have a basic understanding of black holes. When a massive star dies, it leaves a small but dense remnant core in its wake. If the mass of the core is more than roughly times the mass of the sun, the force of gravity overwhelms all other forces and black hole is formed. A black hole is not just empty space; in fact,it’s a great deal of space packed into a very small...

Some Interesting Facts About Space - 2!!!

Hello Guys as we talked in previous space post, there were also some facts were rest so we come back with another facts. Hope you will enjoy. Red Giant Betelgeuse, 1000 times larger thanour sun, is a cosmic neighbor and expected to go supernova in the next 1,000 years!  Some scientists theorize that life is onlypossible in the outer edges of a galaxy, where large stars are rare and thus supernovas don'troutinely sterilize worlds of life.  We ourselves are between two arms of the milkyway, and in a relatively rural part of the galaxy.  Extending well past the orbit of Pluto isa massive sphere of icy objects known as the Oort Cloud. These are remnants from the formation of thesolar system, held in place by the weak gravity of the very distant sun.  Every few million years as we orbit the centerof the Milky Way we enter a region of space full of cosmic debris. Some scientists theorize that this debrismay disturb the fragile orbits of ...
